On Abundance

Musings on the spiritual nature of splendor and wealth.

“Why are you so enchanted by this world, when a mine of gold lies within you?” – RUMI

Abundance – the essence of limitless expansion, the substance of glory, of twinkling infinitudes. It’s a concept so rarified, so sublime, that it has achieved a near religious status in our society, and yet, it’s a state so intuitive and subtle, that almost anyone can activate it by simply reliving the bliss of childhood and swimming in its gushy inner joys.

What is the nature of this state? Is it simply a crude calculation of material attainments? Can it be bottled up and packaged in the form of professional status or rank, and if so, why do we still encounter inner lack + insufficiency even with these worldly achievements?

To begin our exploration, we must anchor ourselves with firm principles:

I. Wealth, both inner and outer, is a divine gift and the expression of the infinite potential of God and the universe.

II. The nature of wealth is to expand and multiply.

III. We, as divine vessels, are both instruments + guardians of this infinite bounty.

IV. There is no limit to affluence and abundance, as our spiritual evolution unfolds, our ability to access and consciously direct this force expands accordingly.

These characteristics are essential and reflect the true nature of wealth and affluence.

With these axioms set firmly in place, let us see how we may best access this force of abundance and manifest it in our lives.

Given the spiritual roots of abundance, we must begin our journey by immediately developing a direct relationship with our own inner state of wealth. The means to this end are multifaceted, it encompasses everything from tranquil inner joys, to maximalist hedonistic romps. The key is to avoid dogma and tune into activities that sincerely elicit a state of inner expansion and abundance.

Initially, these activities will likely bring about a state of inner bliss and contentment, this should be relished with gratitude and absolute devotion. However, as our relationship with this state develops and we becomes more intentional about entering into this mental landscape consciously, a slow cascade of images and associations will begin to present itself. Inclinations to explore, pursue a specific direction, reflect upon recurring ideas + thought patterns. These are the seeds of abundance…

In ancient times, it was customary to consult with priests + gurus to ask for wisdom in life. These figures were seen as direct intermediaries between the divine + human affairs and their insights were accepted as beneficent omens. In the absence of these rich cultural institutions, we must turn inward and commune with our own deepest council. What elevates our soul? How can we increase the activities that nourish us and expand our consciousness? What guidance are we receiving that hold the keys to our greatest blessings? These are the seeds of abundance…
